Our Mission
To foster a love of herbs, promote sustainable herb gardening, educate our community about their many uses, and support local green initiatives through collaboration and shared enthusiasm.
What We Do

The work of the Society

Four ongoing efforts that keep our members busy — and the herbs of Walker County thriving — year after year.

01

Annual Herb Day

Our signature fundraiser, now in its 14th+ year, typically held in late April at local venues like The Plantique or 4 Seasons. The day features herb plant sales, vendors, demonstrations, food, and family-friendly activities — with proceeds supporting our community projects.

02

The Jasper Seed Library

In partnership with the Jasper Public Library, we maintain a free seed library offering herb and vegetable seed packets to encourage home gardening. We restock regularly and invite participants to share photos of their successes on our Facebook group page.

03

Community Collaborations

We partner with other organizations across Walker County to expand community gardening projects and events — pooling expertise, plants, and volunteer hours wherever they're needed most.

A Place to Learn

From first-time growers to lifelong gardeners, we provide a friendly space to learn, exchange seeds, plants, and cuttings, and build the kind of lasting connections that only a shared love of growing things can create.
